Most companies that offer this service provide a place for you to cut and paste your cover letter & resume. There are two ways cut and paste depending on the format they ask for:
Word/WordPerfect Files:
Cutting and pasting directly from your document. This approach keeps your formatting etc. but may look messy when it is pasted.
Text Only Files:
Cutting and pasting from a text document. Use this if they ask for text only or text format only. You will lose your formatting but it will be easier to read and modify.
Some companies allow you to attach documents to emails, if they ask for a text version you must choose “save as” in your document and save it as a .txt file and then attach this.
