Types of Resumes
Chronological
- Highlights a good work history that relates directly to your next targeted job
- Use if you have no major time gaps and few employer changes
- Starts listing present or most recent positions and work backwards in time
- Works best when your previous job relate to your current job objective
Functional
- Focuses on skills and talents that have been developed (not job titles, employer names and dates) in separate categories
- Increases the chances of candidates whose qualifications might look weak in a chronological resume or who are in the midst of a career change and want to minimize attention from recent employment experience
Combined
- For the job seeker with both a solid employment background and special skills to be emphasized
- Is set up like a chronological resume, while allowing the candidate to highlight their qualifications
