This Ontario government program offers a range of services to respond to the employment needs of individuals and skilled labour needs of employers.
The program helps people plan, prepare for and succeed in the job market and can help individuals on a path to higher skills training and employment.
Services are available across Ontario.
Employers who operate a business in Ontario and who are looking to hire staff may also benefit from Employment Services.
The program has several components that are tailored to meet individual needs:
The Resources and Information Services (RI)
provides information on careers and occupations, the local labour
market, training opportunities and job search strategies. There is
information on
apprenticeship training and resources for
Internationally Trained Individuals seeking
employment commensurate with their skills. Coaches are available.
Client Service Planning and Coordination (CSPC)
helps people to clarify their employment needs, establish short and
long-term goals, develop a service plan and search for a job.
Counsellors are available to assist participants in
determining their eligibility and suitability for various employment related programs
Job Matching, Placement and Incentives helps people develop their skills and
gain on-the-job work experience.
Resource and Information Service: Anyone seeking employment and/or training
can access this walk-in community resource whether you are employed,
unemployed or under employed. Client Service Planning and Coordination Participants
must be unemployed, out of school and legally entitled to work in Canada.
Job Matching, Placement and Incentives Participants must be
unemployed, out of school and legally entitled to work in Canada.
Employment Services Elgin also helps young people find summer jobs through the Summer Jobs Service (SJS). The service provides jobs for students aged 15 to 30 and a $2/hour hiring incentive for employers.
The Ontario Skills Passport OSP)
is a resource that provides clear descriptions of the skills used in virtually all
occupations, as well as important work habits. It also provides employers with a
consistent method of assessing and recording the demonstration of these skills and work
habits in the workplace. The skills listed in the OSP are transferable skills that
a student, job seeker and worker can take from job to job, sector to sector and school
to work.
