The need for skilled trades people in Canada is at an all time high. Nationwide we are experiencing a shortage of workers in the skilled trades due to the aging and retirement of current workers and the lack of younger workers entering the trades.

Employer Training Incentive Programs


Apprenticeship Training Tax Credit (ATTC)

The ATTC is a refundable tax credit available to employers who hire & train apprentices incertain skilled trades. The maximum credit available to employers is $10,000 per qualifying apprentice per taxation year. The ATTC s a 45% refundable tax credit on wages & salaries paid for the first 48 months of the apprenticeship program.

Apprenticeship Job Creation Tax Credit (AJCTC)

The AJCTC is a non-refundable tax credit for Employers of up to 10% of eligible salaries & wages paid by employers who hire eligible apprentices after May 1, 2006. The max. credit is $2,000 per year per each eligible apprentice.

Apprenticeship Employer Signing Bonus (AESB)

A $2,000 bonus is available to employers who hire, register and train an apprentice. Payment of $1,000 is issued when the employee is registered as an apprentice and the final $1,000 is paid 6 mos. later if the apprentice is still working and training with the same employer.

Apprenticeship Scholarship (AS)

The Apprenticeship Scholarship of $1,000 supports individuals who require upgrading to meet the academic eligibility requirements for apprenticeship training in their chosen trade. The apprenticeship scholarships are awarded to participants through 2 payments. Initial $500 is awarded when the individual is registered for upgrading and a final $500 when the individual has successfully completed upgrading, is employed and is registered as an apprentice.
